Religious Education

The Role of the Catholic School

As a Catholic school, and as a part of our endeavour to develop each student as a person, all students complete a course of study in Religious Education. This course seeks to develop in each student an understanding of the Catholic faith tradition through the acquisition of relevant skills and knowledge.

Archdiocesan Guidelines for Religious Education

The Religious Education guidelines reflect the wisdom of the Catechetical Directory and the Catechism of the Catholic Church and are the fruits of 30 years reflection on the spiritual outcomes of Vatican II. In each term, students complete a unit of study from these guidelines.

Ceremonies

At the start of each school year, the whole College community gathers on the school oval to pray for the year ahead. The College marks Ash Wednesday, the beginning of  the Season of Lent, with a special House Liturgy in which staff and students reflect on countries that need assistance and on their own personal commitment to God. On the First Friday of each month students and staff get the opportunity to attend Benediction, a ceremony that provides the students with an opportunity to have a special blessing. It is a special time of reflection for our students.
