On Friday, 21 March 2025, the St Norbert College and St Joseph’s School communities were honoured to witness the Ordination to the Priesthood of Brother John De Agnel Anthoni Samy O.Praem, now Father John.
The ceremony, steeped in the rich traditions of the Norbertine Order, was celebrated by the Archbishop of Perth, the Most Reverend Timothy Costelloe SDB, alongside many priests and religious who gathered in prayerful support. It was a profound moment not only for Father John but also for the Norbertine community of Queens Park, marking the culmination of years of study, preparation, and devotion.
The following evening, Father John presided over his first Mass, a joyous and moving celebration that drew together family, friends, and members of the College community. The Mass was followed by a warm and welcoming supper, where all shared in the joy of this milestone occasion.
From his early beginnings in Parit Buntar, Malaysia, to his theological formation at Notre Dame University, Father John’s journey has been one of faith, perseverance, and dedication to God’s call. His ordination represents not only a personal achievement but also a blessing for the wider community, as he begins his ministry of service.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Father John and look forward to his presence, together with Brothers Kenneth, Stephen, and Asiri, in the life of St Norbert College.
Please continue to keep Father John and the Norbertines in your prayers, as they guide and inspire our community in faith.
