Year 10 - Quest

Year 10 Quest Retreat ‘Roadies’

The QUEST Retreat is an important way of introducing our new Year 8s to the St Norbert College Community and philosophy. This unique, special weekend event is designed to build unity and spirit.  The Retreat is an activity which builds community and friendship among the Year 8 class and exposes incoming students to the lived culture of faith in God within the St Norbert College community expressed through the vision of Christ and the charisms of St Norbert.

As part of this retreat, Year 10 Student Ministers volunteer to be ‘roadies’. This means that they help in support capacities that are integral to the success of the retreat. There are two activities specifically that the students assist with. They are as follows:

  • Half of the Year 10 Student Ministers assist on the Saturday night of the retreat when the Year 8 retreatants return form their big brothers’/sisters’ homes having participated in a number of activities including the ‘canned food’ collection Christian service project.
  • The Year 11 parents who drive them back into the College will have their car boots full of collected goods and the Year 10 Student Ministers help unload the food and assist with putting it all into a truck to be delivered to a local charity organisation.
  • The retreat is non-residential, but aside from sleeping time, the rest of the weekend is taken up in participating in the retreat. Baring this in mind, the other half of the year 10 Student Ministers come in early on the Sunday morning of the retreat and cook breakfast for all Year 8, 11 and 12 participating students. It is a mammoth task and an inspiring act of service to be part of.
  • The Year Student Ministers provide a tasty, healthy and satisfying breakfast to all concerned in readiness for the second day of QUEST.
