Dear members of the wider community, Thank you for showing interest in our wonderful College and taking the time to read my message to you. As a former teacher at this College (1980‐1998), I was honoured to have the opportunity to return as College Principal at the start of 2008.
An education at St Norbert College will prepare your child for a life based on strong academic excellence, a love of learning, spiritual growth and strength of character.
Our contemporary and progressive Catholic college offers that special ‘something’ for students in years 7-12 for which all have as a priority for their children. At St Norbert College we focus on the 'whole' student and provide a sense of community that is rare to find in this, complex and ever changing world. Our size (730 students) allows us to cater for each child. This is achieved through belonging to a Christian environment which is based on respect for each other and a pastoral care program which fosters increased confidence, self‐esteem and motivation, thereby enabling students to become confident young people and future leaders.
Not to be overlooked are the College’s proud tradition and values, based on the life and work of St Norbert who was said to have been “prepared for all good works”, thus providing our College with a motto for which students can aspire.
We are highly respected within community and education circles and pride ourselves on our capacity to offer:
- An affordable and quality education. This is extremely important in these critical financial times.
- In the Middle school (Years 7‐9), we ensure that children have many different learning experiences so that they can experience a love of learning and have guidance as young adolescents.
- In the Senior School (Years 10‐12), students have access to a number of pathways. A University pathway, a vocational education pathway (TAFE), and an apprenticeship pathway. Our INSTEP program which provides work place learning and our Kern program which assist students with life skills ensures that our students are well prepared for their post school destinations.
- The spacious and tranquil grounds of St Norbert College provide the ideal canvas for shared and purposeful learning.
- Additionally, our areas of strength extend to our Student Ministry program, sporting and cultural programs. Our Specialised Basketball and Music Program continue to enable young people to experience success with their talents.
We have so many stories of successful students who have gone on to be good and just citizens who care for others and who have followed on to rewarding careers; doctors, lawyers, engineers, researchers, business men and women, tradespeople and those in the services. We are proud to share these stories if you are interested. The regular Reunions , which are organized by ex‐students are full of great friendships and reminiscenses of fond times at St Norbert College.
I look forward to welcoming you and your child into our community.
