2009 Angelico Award The Angelico Art Exhibition is an exhibition of visual artworks by WA Catholic Secondary School students. This prestigious exhibition is a great opportunity for schools to showcase the wonderful talent of their students. This year St Norbert College entered seven pieces of work and we are very proud of Patrick Bridges, who is the 2009 Angelico Award recipient for his work entitled "Flight, signifying mass" a spiritual journey towards God. We also recognise Alex Cody who received a highly recommended award for her "Wire Squirrel" sculpture. Congratulations to all our entrants. They are to be commended on their exceptional talent and also to Ms Gray for her guidance and support in encouraging our young artists. 2009 Talent Quest Congratulations to Dayna Wyllie (Junior Division) and Mario Thaung (Senior Division) on winning the 2009 Talent Quest. We are very privileged to witness such outstanding performers. The sell out audience was treated to a variety of acts. Thanks and congratulations must be extended to to Bruce Culver and Kerri Hilton for their organisation in presenting yet another entertaining evening. Peter Pan Whole School Production The last week of August saw the culmination of months of hard work and inspiration come together for Kerri Hilton (Drama Coordinator) and her cast of actors as they presented on four occasions "Peter Pan". This ageless favourite was brought to life in the Xanten Centre to sell out audiences across the week including a matinee on Saturday, August 1. In preparation, there was a fight workshop conducted, many hours of sewing costumes by our textiles students, many hours slaving over hot stoves and ovens as the cooking students created culinary delights to be served during intervals - it really was a "whole" school production. The audiences loved the show and the more than 100 hours rehearsals for the cast were all worth it in the end. Congratulations to all concerned for a fantastic effort! Football Congratulations to Alex King, who won this year's Brian Rogan Medal and to Caius Kelly who won the coverted Damien Flanagan medal for their excellent efforts in football this year. ACC Athletics Carnival
An outstanding result by an outstanding group of students. The depth of talent developed through hard work on the sporting field in the past few years was on show at the ACC ‘D’ Division Athletics Carnival at the WA Athletics Centre on Friday 18 September. With strong team performance across all age groups and events, St Norbert College blew the opposition away with powerful relay runs to ice what had been a strong performance throughout the day. We had many event winners throughout the day, as well as numerous top four finishers, which are vital in amassing a winning point score. All competitors took up the challenge of placing as high as possible, pushing past opponents to gain the extra place. A huge thanks to our staff coaches, Mrs Grosser, Miss Bursey, Mrs Bunyan, Mr Parnell, Mr Gheradi, Mr Schmidberger, Dr O’Reilly and Miss Moore. We were very fortunate to receive expert help from parent helpers Mr Bernie Catley, Mrs Debbie Gooch, Mrs Vicki Doeke, Ms Rachel Higgins and Mrs Francis Higgins in preparing the team.
